The Washington Post and USA Today both carried major stories of San Francisco’s mayoral election. And both predicted an easy win for Newsom. Predictably, also, both included the names of RRT and AT.
The Post said the San Francisco Mayor’s Race Offers no Drama, but No Suspense. Then it followed with Oddball Group No Real Challenge to Popular Incumbent Newsom, complete with a rundown of the “oddballs.”
The Post said Newsom handled his indiscretion with RRT with “savvy professionalism,” an observation many in San Francisco would dispute.
USA Today told it this way: S.F. mayor rides wave of popularity into election, devoting five paragraphs to his divorce and various “indiscretion” and adding that “Newsom has been straightforward.” One wonders why, then, he has avoided speaking to Noyes or to anyone else about the Timesheet Caper, to cite but one example.
The Big Boys will undoubtedly cover the election in more detail over the following days and weeks, with their predictable takes.
